During a significant visit to Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated development projects worth Rs 6,100 crores, reinforcing his commitment to transforming the city into a model of urban development that harmonises progress with its rich heritage.

This visit holds particular importance as Varanasi is Modi's parliamentary constituency. At the event, he expressed his satisfaction with the rapid pace of development and outlined his vision for the city.

Modi described the day as "very auspicious for Kashi," celebrating the launch of various projects aimed at enhancing infrastructure and creating employment opportunities for the youth.

Key initiatives include the RJ Shankara Eye Hospital, which is set to benefit the elderly and children, and modern infrastructure projects like the new Ring Road and Ganjari Stadium.

The Prime Minister highlighted that Kashi is now recognized for its grand spiritual sites, including the Baba Vishwanath Temple and the Rudraksh Convention Center.

He emphasised that these developments signify Kashi's evolution into a major centre for trade and business. Recently announced plans for a new railroad bridge over the River Ganga aim to improve connectivity, benefitting both Varanasi and the neighbouring Chandauli region.

During his address, PM Modi celebrated the city's growing reputation in sports, mentioning the revamped Sigra Stadium, which is now equipped to host events ranging from national competitions to the Olympics.

He acknowledged the potential of young athletes in Kashi, emphasising the need for quality facilities that would prepare them for larger competitions.

In a notable moment, the Kanchi Shankaracharya praised PM Modi's leadership and coined a new acronym for the NDA—"Narendra Damodardas ka Anushashan." This phrase underscores a governance model focused on the safety and well-being of every citizen.

The Shankaracharya commended Modi for his role in elevating India's global stature and emphasised that the NDA government serves as a role model for governance worldwide.

Shankaracharya expressed admiration for the Prime Minister's understanding of the common man's challenges, citing the government's compassionate approach during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He remarked that the NDA has effectively addressed the needs of citizens, illustrating this with examples from various welfare schemes implemented during times of distress.

Returning to the Prime Minister's address, Modi noted that the recent recognition of Pali and Prakrit as classical languages is a matter of great pride. He emphasised his administration's efforts to ensure that the historical and cultural significance of languages is preserved while advancing urban development.

Modi reiterated his commitment to the people of Varanasi, highlighting that in less than 125 days since the government formation, projects worth over Rs 15 lakh crore had already begun. He stressed that these initiatives are aimed at improving the lives of the poor, farmers, and youth.

Focusing on infrastructure development, Modi remarked on the dramatic improvements in India’s airport facilities. He noted that the country now boasts more than 150 airports, a significant increase from just 70 in 2014.

The Prime Minister highlighted the construction of new facilities at various airports, including the international airport in Ayodhya, which welcomes thousands of pilgrims daily.

Uttar Pradesh, according to Modi, has transformed into the "state of expressways," moving away from its past image of poor infrastructure. He praised the state’s progress, including the planned international airport in Jewar, Noida, and recognized the efforts of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his team in driving this transformation.

PM Modi emphasised that societal development is contingent upon empowering women and youth. He spoke about various initiatives aimed at providing loans to women, thereby enabling them to start their own businesses. His vision of creating "Lakhpati Didis" in villages showcases the government's commitment to fostering entrepreneurship among women.

He also addressed the importance of providing basic necessities such as piped water, cooking gas, and electricity to enhance living conditions. The new PM Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme is designed to further support women by allowing them access to free power.

As he wrapped up his address, Modi reflected on Kashi's cultural significance, emphasising its dual identity as a spiritual hub and a centre of learning. He noted that, after decades of stagnation, his government is finally able to implement widespread development in the region.

Challenging previous governments for their lack of progress, Modi reaffirmed his administration's mantra of "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas," ensuring that no one is left behind in the pursuit of development. He mentioned the completion of the grand Ram temple in Ayodhya as a promise fulfilled.

Modi also raised concerns about dynastic politics, which he sees as a hindrance to youth empowerment. He called for increased youth participation in politics, advocating for young individuals without political backgrounds to enter the political arena and help reshape the country’s future.

Encouraging the youth of Kashi and Uttar Pradesh, he emphasised their potential to be at the forefront of this political movement. In closing, Modi celebrated Kashi as a beacon of development and progress for the entire nation, congratulating its people on the new projects and initiatives launched during his visit.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, highlighting a united effort toward a progressive and developed Varanasi.

PM Modi's visit not only marked the inauguration of vital projects but also signalled a renewed commitment to Kashi's development as a symbol of modern India.
