PM Modi waits at Airport to avoid inconvenience to NEET aspirants

As the NEET examination was scheduled to begin at 2 PM, the Prime Minister decided to leave for his residence at Lok Kalyan Marg only after the exam commenced, ensuring that no student faces any inconvenience in reaching the examination centre and that traffic movement remained unaffected

PM Narender Modi waited for nearly 45 minutes at IGI Delhi to ensure no inconvenience to NEET students due to traffic restrictions.


In what is being as an ‘extra care’ gesture, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday delayed his travel to his residence after arriving at Delhi's IGI airport from Kolkata, making effort to ensure no candidate appearing in the NEET re-examination here faces any inconvenience due to traffic restrictions.

 

 After arriving at the IGI airport at around 1:15 PM, the Prime Minister chose to wait at the airport instead of immediately leaving for his residence at Lok Kalyan Marg. Since the NEET examination was scheduled to begin at 2 PM, the Prime Minister decided to leave for his residence only after the exam commenced, ensuring that no student faces any inconvenience in reaching the examination centre and that traffic movement remained unaffected, as per a news agency report.He is said to have waited for nearly 45 minutes at the airport.

 

The Prime Minister was returning from his two-day trip of Odisha and West Bengal during which, among other events, he participated in a programme in Kolkata on the occasion of International Yoga Day on Sunday.The National Testing Agency is conducted the NEET-UG 2026 re-exam for admission into the undergraduate course in medical colleges on Sunday.The test was originally scheduled for May 3 but was cancelled due to the alleged leak of the question papers.

 

The re-examination on Sunday began from 2.00 PM and concluded at 5.15 PM. It was  conducted across 5,440 centres in 551 cities in India and 14 centres abroad.Union Minister Sukanta Mazumdar praised PM Modi, "For some, power means privilege. For PM Narendra Modi, it means responsibility. Choosing to wait at the airport so NEET aspirants could travel smoothly to their examination centres reflects a leadership style that puts citizens first."

 

 

Ahead of the examination, the NTA said it had made "comprehensive arrangements" to ensure the "fair, secure and candidate-friendly" conduct of the test across the country.Entry into examination centres was subject to strict checks, with metal detectors deployed to screen candidates.

 

To ensure a secure and smooth conduct of the examination, the National Testing Agency (NTA) put in place extensive surveillance and security measures. Exam rooms were equipped with CCTV cameras under constant monitoring, while signal jammers supplied by ECIL and BEL were deployed to prevent malpractice.The NTA also stationed two invigilators in each examination room, with more than 10 officials present at every centre to oversee the process.
