Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after concluding his two-day State visit to Mauritius, expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam and the people of Mauritius for their warm hospitality.
Taking to social media platform X, the Prime Minister wrote, "Highlights from the second day of my Mauritius visit... I thank PM Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, the people and Government of Mauritius for the warmth."
During his visit, Prime Minister Modi attended the Mauritius National Day parade in Port Louis and offered prayers at the revered Ganga Talao. His arrival at the sacred lake was met with enthusiasm, as thousands lined the roads to catch a glimpse of the visiting leader.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Modi was conferred with Mauritius' highest civilian honour, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean, by President Dharam Gokhool.
The distinction, bestowed on him during the National Day celebrations, marked the second occasion that PM Modi was invited as the Chief Guest, the first being in 2015.

Expressing his appreciation while accepting the honour, Prime Minister Modi stated, "I express my heartfelt gratitude for being conferred the highest national award of Mauritius. This is not just my honour; it is the honour of 1.4 billion Indians. It is a tribute to the centuries-old cultural and historical bonds of kinship between India and Mauritius. It is an acknowledgment of our shared commitment to regional peace, progress, security, and sustainable development. And it is a symbol of the shared hopes and aspirations of the Global South."
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi offered prayers at Ganga Talao, where he performed a ritual by mixing holy water brought from the Prayagraj Mahakumbh.
Braving heavy rain, thousands gathered to witness the momentous occasion.
Further strengthening bilateral ties, Prime Minister Modi, alongside his Mauritian counterpart, jointly inaugurated the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Public Service and Innovation.
Speaking at the event, he spotlighted the significance of the institute as a hub for learning and research, contributing to governance and public administration in the island nation.
Prime Minister Modi has since returned to the national capital following the conclusion of his visit.
