On Tuesday, Delhi BJP President Virendraa Sachdeva was detained while leading a protest demanding the resignation of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is in ED custody in the Liquor Excise Policy case. The BJP organised a protest from Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium to Delhi Secretariat via ITO, where police used water cannons to disperse the demonstrators as they tried to march towards the Secretariat.

Sachdeva, speaking to ANI before his detainment, criticised Kejriwal, calling him corrupt and dishonest and accused him of looting the people of Delhi. He emphasised that Kejriwal must resign, stating that the government cannot be run from jail. Sachdeva's sentiments were echoed by other BJP leaders and workers who participated in the protest.

The protest comes after a purported post by Supriya Shrinate featuring an objectionable caption with a picture of Ranaut dressed in a corset top went viral on social media. The post, which has since been deleted, led to a backlash from several BJP leaders and others, prompting Shrinate to claim that her social media handle had been hacked and misused. Ranaut, fielded by the BJP from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh for the upcoming general elections, has been defended by BJP leaders who criticised the Congress.

While BJP members staged protests demanding Kejriwal's resignation, AAP supporters also organised demonstrations against his arrest. The AAP, in support of Kejriwal, planned a march to the Prime Minister's residence for a "gherao" protest. However, many AAP leaders and workers were detained by police, leading to further tensions between the two parties.

The BJP's protest and subsequent detainments occurred on the same day that AAP members were planning their demonstration. The clash between the two parties highlights the escalating political tensions in Delhi, with each side accusing the other of wrongdoing.

Amid the protests and detainments, accusations were made against Kejriwal of issuing directives from custody. BJP leaders condemned this action, stating that a chief minister cannot govern from jail. However, AAP defended Kejriwal's actions, arguing that he was ensuring essential services for the people of Delhi even while in custody.

The political turmoil in Delhi underscores the deep divisions between the BJP and AAP, with each side vying for control and accusing the other of malfeasance. As tensions continue to rise, the fate of Kejriwal and the political landscape of Delhi remain uncertain.
