President Droupadi Murmu and BJP leaders have expressed deep condolences and condemned the recent terror attack on a bus carrying pilgrims to the Shiv Khori shrine in Reasi district. The attack resulted in nine deaths and 33 injuries.
In a post on X, President Murmu conveyed her distress over the incident. She expressed condolences to the families of the victims and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. She condemned the attack as a crime against humanity, emphasising that the nation stands with the victims' families.
Union Minister Rajnath Singh, speaking on behalf of the BJP, echoed these sentiments, expressing deep pain over the cowardly attack and extending his condolences to the bereaved families. He also prayed for the recovery of the injured and stressed the need for strength during this difficult time.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described the attack as extremely sad and extended his tributes to the deceased. He offered his condolences to the grieving families and prayed for the souls of the departed.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami condemned the attack as a cowardly act and assured that the perpetrators would not be spared. He expressed his condolences and prayed for peace for the departed souls and a swift recovery for the injured.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai also condemned the attack, calling it highly condemnable. He extended his prayers for the peace of the departed souls and the swift recovery of the injured.
BJP leader Dilip Ghosh linked the attack to the recent political developments, claiming that the rise in terrorist activities was a reaction to the I.N.D.I Coalition's election success. He asserted that the BJP would firmly suppress terrorist activities, ensuring no place for terrorists in Bharat.
The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir also condemned the attack, promising that those responsible would be punished. He reassured the public that security forces and the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) were conducting joint operations to hunt down the terrorists.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been monitoring the situation closely and has directed that the injured receive the best possible medical care and assistance.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Reasi, Mohita Sharma, the bus was attacked while en route from the Shiv Khori shrine to Katra. The terrorists opened fire, causing the driver to lose control and the bus to plunge into a gorge.
Rescue operations have been completed, with the injured referred to Naraina and Reasi District hospitals. The passengers are believed to be from Uttar Pradesh.
Deputy Commissioner Reasi Vishesh Mahajan confirmed that ten people died as the bus rolled down the gorge. This tragic incident underscores the ongoing challenges in maintaining security and protecting civilians in regions prone to terrorist activities.
