President Droupadi Murmu has extended her warm greetings to teachers across the nation on the eve of Teachers' Day, emphasising their vital role in shaping the future of India. In her message, she acknowledged the significance of this day, which marks the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a renowned educationist, philosopher, and former President of India. President Murmu paid tribute to Dr. Radhakrishnan, highlighting his lasting influence on the nation.

 

She expressed her belief that children are the future of the country, and as students, they gain essential life skills and values. Teachers, as mentors, play a pivotal role in moulding these students into future leaders who will guide the destiny of the nation.

This day also commemorates the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, born in 1888, who was not only a scholar and Bharat Ratna recipient but also the first Vice President of Independent India from 1952 to 1962, and later, the second President of India from 1962 to 1967.
