President Murmu joins Mahakumbh pilgrims with holy dip at Sangam

President Droupadi Murmu took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam in Prayag during the ongoing Mahakumbh 2025. Accompanied by dignitaries, she later offered prayers at the sacred confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna and Saraswati rivers, marking a significant spiritual moment.

President Droupadi Murmu on Monday took a ceremonial holy dip at the Triveni Sangam in Prayag, joining millions of devotees gathered for the Mahakumbh 2025. 

After performing the ritual dip at the sacred confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers, President Murmu offered prayers, marking a significant moment during the world's largest spiritual and cultural congregation.

 

The President later offered prayers and performed Ganga Arti at the Triveni Sangam.

 

 

Upon her arrival in Prayag, the President was warmly received by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

 


The Rashtrapati Bhavan, in a post on X, stated, "Governor of Uttar Pradesh Smt Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath received President Droupadi Murmu on her arrival at Prayagraj."

Following her arrival, President Murmu fed migratory birds at the Sangam, symbolising a gesture of peace and harmony.

Earlier in the day, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, accompanied by his family, also took a ceremonial dip at the Triveni Sangam.

Expressing his gratitude, Dhami described the experience as a privilege. "People from all over the world are coming here for a holy dip of faith... I consider myself fortunate to be able to come here. The Kumbh of 2027 will be in Haridwar, and we have already started preparations for it," he said.

 

 

According to the Uttar Pradesh government, around 8.429 million devotees took the holy dip on Sunday alone, bringing the total number of participants so far to over 420 million.

The Mahakumbh 2025, which commenced on Paush Purnima (13 January 2025), is set to conclude on Mahashivratri (26 February).

 

The grand event continues to draw devotees from across India and the globe, making it a historic occasion of spiritual devotion and communal harmony.
