President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narender Modi were among the first to congratulate C P Radhakrishnan on being elected as the Vice President of India . They said his rich experience in public life will contribute significantly to the nation's progress.
Strongly rooted in the RSS and the BJP, Radhakrishnan was on Tuesday elected as the 15th Vice President of the country. He brings along a rich political and administrative experience which will prove handy in his role as the ex-officio chairperson of the Rajya Sabha.
"Congratulations to Shri C P Radhakrishnan on being elected as the Vice President of India! Your decades of rich experience in public life will contribute significantly to the nation’s progress. I extend my best wishes to you for a successful and impactful tenure," Murmu said in a post on X.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated India's new Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, saying that he will be an “outstanding VP”.

“Congratulations to Thiru CP Radhakrishnan Ji on winning the 2025 Vice Presidential election. His life has always been devoted to serving society and empowering the poor and marginalised. I am confident that he will be an outstanding VP, who will strengthen our Constitutional values and enhance Parliamentary discourse.,” PM Narendra Modi said in a post on X.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also congratulated C P Radhakrishnan for winning the vice-presidential polls and said his sagacity as a leader and profound administrative knowledge will help in bringing out the best in India's parliamentary democracy.
"Congratulations to C P Radhakrishnan Ji on being elected as the Vice-President of India," Shah wrote on X. The home minister said he firmly believes that Radhakrishnan's sagacity as a leader who has risen from the grassroots of society and profound knowledge about administration will help the country in bringing out the best in its parliamentary democracy to serve the marginalised.
"I extend my warmest wishes to you for your journey as the custodian of the sanctity of the Upper House," Shah added. Radhakrishnan won the vice presidential election by bagging 452 votes, while opposition candidate B Sudershan Reddy polled 300 votes.
