President Murmu, PM Modi to jointly visit Odisha on June 20

President Murmu and PM Modi will begin their engagements in Odisha with a visit to Pahadpur village in Mayurbhanj district at around 11:15 am. The visit is aimed at highlighting efforts to strengthen education, skill development and socio-economic empowerment in tribal and rural areas.

The scheduled visit of President Droupadi Murmu and PM Narender Modi to Odisha will see unveiling of key development projects


In what can be seen as huge impetus to development of the state, President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are scheduled to jointly visit Odisha on June 20, where they will take part in a series of programmes in Mayurbhanj district and unveil projects worth more than ₹47,600 crore.

 

President Murmu and PM Modi will begin their engagements in Odisha with a visit to Pahadpur village in Mayurbhanj district at around 11:15 am. They will offer prayers at the sacred Santhali Jahera and Ho Jahera groves and visit the Skill Centre and Pahadpur School. The visit is aimed at highlighting efforts to strengthen education, skill development and socio-economic empowerment in tribal and rural areas.

 

Later, at around 1 pm, the President and the Prime Minister will participate in a programme at Rairangpur marking the completion of two years of the Odisha government. Held under the theme “Vikas ra Dhara, Odisha Sara”, the event will witness the inauguration and foundation stone laying of projects spanning key sectors such as energy, industrial infrastructure, road connectivity, drinking water, healthcare, education, tourism and irrigation. Prime Minister Modi will also address the gathering.

 

Among the major projects for which foundation stones will be laid are the 600 MW Upper Indravati Pumped Storage Project, the Stage-II expansion of the IB Thermal Power Station with two 660 MW units, and the Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited (BCGCL) project at Lakhanpur in Jharsuguda district. These projects are expected to enhance energy security, promote cleaner utilisation of domestic coal resources and generate employment opportunities.

 

Other projects include a 300 TPD source-segregated municipal solid waste-based compressed biogas plant in Bhubaneswar, a bridge over the Kathajodi River connecting Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, the widening and strengthening of the Dhalpur-Harbhanga Road in Boudh district, and the four-laning of a section of NH-353 from Nuapada to Ghatipada. The Kusumdihi Megalift Irrigation Project, an IGNOU Regional Centre and an Indoor Badminton Complex at Rairangpur will also be launched.

 

Additionally, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the 300-bedded District Headquarters Hospital at Boudh, 24 Atal Bus Stands and nine Automated Testing Stations across Odisha. Other key projects to be inaugurated include the Nayagarh Town Bypass on NH-57, the underground pipeline component of the Kusumi Smart Irrigation Project, the Jakhapura–Jajpur Keonjhar Road–Baitarani Road Multi-Tracking Project, the Hindol Road–Meramandali Multi-Tracking Project, and a Sports Complex and Tribal Research Centre at Rairangpur.

 

The projects are expected to strengthen infrastructure, improve connectivity, enhance energy security and accelerate socio-economic development across Odisha, particularly in tribal and rural regions.
