President Droupadi Murmu, the first tribal head of state of the Republic of India, turned 67 on Friday, drawing heartfelt wishes from across the political spectrum, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Prime Minister Modi, in a post on X, said: “Warmest birthday wishes to Rashtrapati Ji. Her life and leadership continue to inspire crores of people across the country. Her unwavering commitment to public service, social justice and inclusive development are a beacon of hope and strength for everyone.”
“She has always worked to empower the poor and downtrodden. May she be blessed with a long and healthy life in service of the people,” the Prime Minister added.
President Murmu, who assumed office in 2022, is the 15th President of India and the first from a tribal community to hold the post. Her election was widely hailed as a milestone in the nation’s democratic journey.
Joining the chorus of greetings, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge posted: “On behalf of the Indian National Congress, we extend our warm birthday wishes to the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu ji. May her wisdom and unwavering dedication to the nation's progress, welfare, and justice continue to lead the country on the path of truth and virtuousness.”
“We wish her a long, healthy, and fulfilling life,” he added.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also took to X, writing: “My warmest wishes to Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu on her birthday. May she be blessed with a long life, good health, and profound happiness as she continues to serve the nation with grace and dedication.”
Several other prominent leaders and public figures extended their greetings to the President.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju lauded the President’s “remarkable stewardship and profound connection with the people,” adding that her leadership “exemplifies outstanding statesmanship”. He extended heartfelt wishes for her continued good health and prosperity.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also joined in, describing Murmu as “an epitome of spontaneity, simplicity, gentleness and women's empowerment”, and prayed for her long and auspicious life.
Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama, in a letter to the President, praised her dedication to service and India’s vibrant democratic tradition. He wished her “happiness, good health and continued success in fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the people of India.” These greetings reflected the respect and admiration that President Murmu commands across the political and spiritual spectrum.
