President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Gujarat for a two-day official visit, where she attended significant events and explored key landmarks in the state.

 

She was warmly received at Ahmedabad Airport by Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, along with several senior officials and dignitaries.

 

As part of her visit, President Murmu attended the convocation ceremonies at the National Institute of Design (NID) and the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU).

 

These institutions play a crucial role in shaping the future of design and forensic sciences in India, and her presence at these events highlighted their importance in the academic landscape.

 

During her tour, the President also visited the Sardar Sarovar Dam and Jungle Safari Park in Ekta Nagar, Narmada district. Accompanied by the Governor and State Protocol Minister Jagdish Vishwakarma, she witnessed the remarkable engineering feat of the dam.

 

Officials briefed her about the challenges faced during its construction, its vast water storage capacity, and the extensive canal network that supports irrigation and water supply to several regions.

 

Mukesh Puri, Managing Director of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam, provided detailed insights on the dam's significance for Gujarat and neighbouring states. The visit emphasised the crucial role of the dam in providing water resources and boosting development in the region.

 

At the Jungle Safari Park, President Murmu explored the diverse wildlife housed within the facility. She observed various animals, including the jaguar, Asiatic lion, Bengal tiger, and leopard, along with an extensive collection of bird species from around the world.

 

The park’s education officer, Shashikant Sharma, briefed her about the conservation efforts and the significance of the park in preserving biodiversity.

 

The visit to Gujarat allowed President Murmu to engage with key developmental projects, academic institutions, and conservation efforts in the state. Her presence underscored the importance of these initiatives in fostering progress and sustainability in the region.
