President Droupadi Murmu completed three years in office on Friday and remarked that she always endeavours to suitably connect all sections of society, especially the backward classes and the underprivileged, to the development process of the country. In her short address on the occasion of inauguration of various initiatives to commemorate the third year of her tenure, she hailed the reality that Rashtrapati Bhavan became more accessible to the divyangjan.

Murmu took oath as the 15th President on July 25, 2022, and became the nation's first tribal head of state.

The president stated that it is a satisfaction to note that over the last three years, many decisions were taken and efforts were made which enhanced the interaction of citizens with Rashtrapati Bhavan.

"It is always our endeavour to establish links effectively between all sections of society, particularly the backward and underprivileged classes, with the nation's development path," she added.

President's Estate has been made divyangjan-friendly estate, a release from Murmu's office stated. The president was confident that many new initiatives will be undertaken in the next few days, it added.

"Rashtrapati Bhavan, Amrit Udyan and Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum are divyangjan-friendly buildings after adopting the 50-point recommendation of the Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities," the statement added. Murmu inaugurated several measures to get Rashtrapati Bhavan "Net Zero" by March 2027.

The official websites of Rashtrapati Bhavan are now in 22 Indian languages, the statement added.

The President also initiated 'e-Upahaar season 2' for more than 250 items to be auctioned, the statement added. "All auction proceeds will go to causes for the welfare of children," the statement added.

Other facilities for visitors and occupiers of the President's Estates, including the visitor facilitation centre at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Nilayam Nikunj at Rashtrapati Nilayam, Hyderabad, cafeteria, souvenir shop and reception at Rashtrapati Niwas, Mashobra and renovated gym at the President's Estate here were also inaugurated by the president.

On this occasion, an e-book bearing glimpses of the past one year of Murmu's presidency was also launched.

A page with the heading "Global Bonds" provided information on her overseas visits stating that the president had visited New Zealand, Fiji, Timor-Leste, Algeria, Mauritania, Malawi, Portugal, the Slovak Republic and Rome.

She is the first Indian leader to visit Fiji, Algeria, Mauritania and Malawi, as per the e-book.

Murmu was conferred the top award in Fiji and Timor-Leste and an honorary doctorate in Algeria and the Slovak Republic during her visit.

The president and the supreme commander of the armed forces also went to the Siachen base camp and offered tributes at the Siachen war memorial, the e-book adds.

She has been encouraging inclusivity by way of various initiatives, such as hosting of a 'purple fest' and inviting divyangjans to the Rashtrapati Bhavan and its world-renowned Amrit Udyan.

Murmu interacted with tribal leaders from different walks of life and from across the country, the e-book states in a page titled 'Tribal Connect'.
