Prisoner number 15528, Prajwal Revanna, was seen visibly tense and cried spending the initial night in the jail following a life sentence in a rape case on Saturday, officials have stated. A day after he was sentenced in the rape case, suspended Janata Dal(Secular) leader Prajwal Revanna was allotted the prisoner number at Bengaluru's Parappana Agrahara Central prison, jail officials stated on Sunday.
Revanna, grandson of former Prime Minister and JDS supremo HD Deve Gowda, spent his first night in jail after Saturday's court judgement holding him guilty and giving him life term in the case. Revanna was said to have been in tears and looked visibly upset.
Prison doctors examined his health late on Saturday night to check whether his medical condition was alright. "He collapsed during the medical examination and conveyed his sorrow to the officials," a senior official said.
Prajwal reportedly told the staff that he has filed an appeal in the High Court challenging the verdict. The ex-MP is now held in a high-security cell and is being given strengthened security.
As per prison authorities, the convicts' standard attire is being adhered to, and he will be made to wear the same uniform provided to prisoners.
