The Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh tableaux have been chosen to be part of India's Republic Day parade in 2025, which is one of the country's most important celebrations.
These tableaux will be displayed during the parade on January 26, 2025, at Kartavya Path in New Delhi.
However, Delhi's tableau proposal was rejected by the committee formed by the Ministry of Defence because it did not meet the required guidelines. The selection process was carried out by a committee of experts from various ministries, set up by the Ministry of Defence.
According to the Ministry of Defence, a total of 15 tableaux from different states and Union Territories will take part in the Republic Day parade. The selected states include Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Goa, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, and Tripura. The Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli is also on the list.
Officials say that the selection process for the tableaux was fair and transparent. The expert panel reviewed the tableau proposals based on their theme, design, and overall impact before making their decisions.
This is the fourth year in a row that Delhi's tableau has been rejected, which has sparked more discussion about the ongoing issues between the Delhi government and the Central government.
"The selection process is clear, and there are set guidelines. Delhi's tableau has been included in the parade seven times in the past 20 years," said an official. The guidelines specify that each state and Union Territory can be part of the parade once every three years if they meet the requirements.
