Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi welcomed at Berlin Airport.

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, was warmly received by members of the Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) upon his arrival at Berlin Airport as part of his five-day visit to Germany. He is set to participate in a significant IOC event today, during which he will interact with IOC leaders from various countries across Europe.

The IOC teams greeted him with garlands, and the members were visibly delighted and smiling as they welcomed him.

The gathering is organised with the objective of enhancing the Congress party's global outreach and related activities. According to the IOC, Rahul Gandhi's visit includes addressing the Indian Diaspora and engaging with the presidents of the party's overseas chapters in Europe. Discussions are planned on matters concerning Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and strategies to further promote the party's ideology.

"We are honoured to welcome Shri Rahul Gandhi Ji, who will be engaging with the Indian Diaspora in Berlin on December 17. The event will bring together all presidents of the Indian Overseas Congress from across Europe, providing a unique platform to discuss key issues with Rahul Gandhi, particularly on strengthening the party, NRI concerns and how IOC can play a pivotal role in connecting more people to the party," a post from the Indian Overseas Congress X account said.

The announcement of the five-day visit came during the ongoing Winter Session of Parliament, drawing sharp criticism from leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). They have questioned his commitment to parliamentary duties in light of his repeated international travels.

On December 10, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut remarked that she does not follow his travel itineraries or related news but suggested that his ongoing trips abroad contribute to the decline of his party. In a pointed remark, she described the individual as lacking substance and character strength.

"I don't keep track of his tours, nor do I read any news about him. So, what can I say about his tours? But it's pretty obvious to everyone why his party has fallen to single digits," she said.

In response, Priyanka Gandhi defended the Germany tour, pointing out that "PM Narendra Modi spends half of his working time outside the country, so why are they raising questions when the Leader of the Opposition is travelling?"

The visit to Germany is scheduled to continue until 20 December.
