Mumbai BJP president and MLA Ameet Satam on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, demanding that the Leader of the Opposition make his passport details public and alleging that he had met "enemies" of India during his visits abroad.
Addressing party workers during a protest march in Mumbai, Satam accused Rahul Gandhi of engaging with individuals and groups that, according to him, were opposed to India's interests. He alleged that the Congress leader's overseas interactions warranted greater public scrutiny and called on him to disclose details of his foreign travel.
Satam, however, did not provide any evidence to support his allegations regarding Rahul Gandhi's meetings or identify the individuals he referred to as "enemies" of India. The BJP leader also accused Rahul Gandhi of attempting to create instability in the country through his political actions. He alleged that the Congress MP was working in coordination with political leaders who, according to him, were seeking to obstruct India's development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In his remarks, Satam named Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee, and Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav, claiming they had aligned with what he described as "anti-Bharat" forces.
He alleged that the opposition parties were united not only in their criticism of the central government but also in efforts to slow the country's progress. According to Satam, Prime Minister Modi's government had undertaken several developmental initiatives over the past decade, and opposition leaders were attempting to create political hurdles rather than offering constructive alternatives.
The BJP leader made the remarks while leading a march of party workers through Mumbai. The demonstration was organised a day after Rahul Gandhi and several senior Congress leaders staged a protest outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence in New Delhi.
The Congress protest was held as part of a wider campaign over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations and recruitment processes. Party leaders accused the government of failing to ensure transparency in examinations and demanded accountability over reported lapses.

Rahul Gandhi has, in recent months, repeatedly criticised the central government over issues including unemployment, paper leaks, recruitment delays and alleged irregularities in examination systems. The Congress has maintained that the concerns raised by students and job aspirants deserve immediate attention and has accused the government of failing to safeguard the integrity of recruitment processes.
Responding to the opposition's campaign, BJP leaders have rejected the allegations and accused the Congress of attempting to mislead the public for political gain. They have maintained that the government is committed to strengthening examination systems and ensuring fairness in recruitment.
Satam reiterated that the BJP would continue to counter what he described as misinformation being spread by opposition parties. He urged party workers to take the government's achievements to the people and defend its record on governance and development.
The exchange of allegations comes amid an increasingly charged political atmosphere, with both the ruling BJP and opposition parties intensifying their campaigns ahead of upcoming electoral contests. Issues related to governance, employment, economic development and public accountability are expected to remain central themes in the political discourse in the coming months.
Neither Rahul Gandhi nor the Congress had immediately responded to Satam's latest remarks at the time of reporting.
