Rajasthan is bracing for a bit of a break from the scorching heat wave that has gripped the state, as per a senior official from the IMD’s Rajasthan Meteorological Centre. By the end of May, temperatures are expected to drop by 3-5 degrees Celsius, offering some relief to the residents.

However, the Regional Meteorological Centre has cautioned that severe heatwave conditions will persist in the state for the next 48 hours.

Places like Phalodi, Barmer, and Jaisalmer in West Rajasthan have been particularly hard-hit, with temperatures soaring above 48 degrees Celsius and showing no signs of respite until May 29.

Radheshyam Sharma, the Director of the Meteorological Centre in Jaipur, emphasised that the situation is unlikely to change drastically until May 29, with maximum temperatures hovering between 48 and 49 degrees Celsius. However, there's a glimmer of hope as the heatwave is expected to ease in the next few days.

Sharma mentioned that from May 30 onwards, East Rajasthan will see a decrease in temperatures by 3-5 degrees Celsius, and the severity of the heatwave in West Rajasthan will diminish significantly.

By the month's end, maximum temperatures in West Rajasthan are forecasted to drop to around 45 degrees Celsius.

He also highlighted the likelihood of thunderstorms, lightning, light rains, and dusty winds in parts of the state, especially West and Northwest Rajasthan, due to western disturbances. These weather phenomena are expected to bring some relief from the scorching temperatures.

Despite this, the forecast indicates that large parts of northern India, including Rajasthan, will continue to experience a fierce heatwave, with temperatures soaring over 45 degrees Celsius in many places.

The situation underscores the importance of staying hydrated and taking necessary precautions to beat the heat.
