Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, CDS Gen Anil Chauhan, and Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi will  attend the Him-Tech symposium 2024 organised by the Army in Leh on September 20-21, officials said.

The symposium is expected to address the operational and logistical requirements of Northern Command, which has been in a fierce standoff with the Chinese PLA along the LAC in Eastern Ladakh since 2020.

While China and eastern Ladakh remain a top priority, security forces are also aiming to curb infiltration bids along the LoC with Pakistan, besides flushing out resurgent terrorism in Jammu.

The symposium is scheduled to be held at Rinchen Auditorium Complex, Leh, and Northern Command Chief Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar is expected to attend along with other Army commanders.

Over 100 different tech firms and defence firms will take part in the symposium, highlighting their recent modern technologies/equipment that can fulfil the requirements of the Northern Command.

Defence Minister Singh is likely to attend the symposium on one of the two days and address a keynote session.

The CDS and Army Chief will also join the event, and top Army commanders will interact for a review of the prevailing security situation in Eastern Ladakh.

Officials said that the Him Tech Symposium will enable Army-Industry collaboration to engage directly with the end-users and create awareness about state-of-the-art technologies for future warfare.

The Indian army, with its latest induction of technologically superior weaponry, not only managed to withstand the Chinese PLA at most places but forced tactical retreat at some crucial places in the ongoing standoff in eastern Ladakh.

Although both sides engaged in a constructive dialogue through several rounds of talks, progress over demilitarisation remains to be seen.

The aim in the hinterland is to equip the troops with state-of-the-art weapons and other new equipment to tackle foreign terrorists who have M4 carbines and other sophisticated gadgets like night vision devices.

On the LoC with Pakistan, too, the troops are adequately equipped with state-of-the-art gadgetry to foil the infiltration attempts of terrorists.

As far as operational readiness is concerned, the Ministry of Defence, in collaboration with the Air Force, and army, has deployed state-of-the-art modern technology in eastern Ladakh to counter China in case of escalations.
