On the occasion of International Yoga Day, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised Indian soldiers for embodying the essence of Yoga and Yogi during a session held in Mathura. The event saw Singh participating in yoga exercises alongside troops from Mathura Cantonment, joined by Army Chief Manoj Pande and other senior officers.

 

Singh highlighted the profound qualities that soldiers exhibit, synonymous with those of Yoga and Yogi, which are universally admired. He emphasised their physical and mental strength, frequently demonstrated in various global scenarios.

 

Beyond their military duties, Singh acknowledged the soldiers' humanitarian efforts during national disasters, illustrating their unwavering focus and commitment.

 

"In times of adversity, Indian soldiers have displayed remarkable restraint, reflecting their yogic nature. Moreover, their proactive stance in defending India's sovereignty underscores their unique identity," Singh remarked during the event.

 

He reiterated India's historical stance against aggression and expansionism, underscoring the country's capability to respond decisively if its sovereignty is ever threatened. "India has never been the aggressor but has always stood firm against expansionist ideologies," Singh affirmed, highlighting the nation's defensive readiness when necessary.

 

The Defence Minister also stressed the importance of offensive capabilities in safeguarding the nation's security, emphasising the balance between defence strategies and proactive measures in protecting India's values and civilization.

 

Across the country, India's security forces celebrated the International Day of Yoga with fervour. In Eastern Ladakh and other icy heights along the northern frontier, Indian Army troops engaged in yoga sessions to mark the occasion.

 

Meanwhile, aboard the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya, sailors and even children participated in early morning yoga drills, underscoring the widespread enthusiasm for yoga within the Navy.

 

The annual International Yoga Day holds special significance in India and globally, promoting physical, mental, and spiritual well-being through yoga practices. It serves as a reminder of yoga's ancient roots in Indian culture and its transformative impact on individuals and communities worldwide.
