Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a high-level meeting on Friday to comprehensively review the national security situation with the top brass of the Indian military. The meeting came just a day after Pakistan’s coordinated missile and drone attacks targeting Indian military installations were successfully repelled by Indian forces.
According to sources, the discussion covered every aspect of the evolving threat landscape, particularly the escalation in cross-border hostilities over the past 48 hours.
The meeting was attended by Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh, and Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi.
Pakistan's attacks and India's response
Late Thursday night, Indian defence forces neutralised a Pakistani attempt to strike military stations located in Jammu, Pathankot, Udhampur, and other areas using missiles and drones. According to the Ministry of Defence, all incoming threats were effectively intercepted by India’s air defence systems, and no damage or casualties were reported.
Following the failed assault, the Ministry issued a firm statement affirming that India remains fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and ensure the safety of its citizens. Military officials confirmed that the hostile aerial objects were effectively engaged and all Pakistani attempts were thwarted.

Multiple Targets Across India
This latest incident followed an earlier, large-scale attempt by Pakistan on Wednesday night, when it sought to strike military facilities in 15 cities across northern and western India. According to the Ministry of Defence, the list of targeted locations included:
- Awantipura
- Srinagar
- Jammu
- Pathankot
- Amritsar
- Kapurthala
- Jalandhar
- Ludhiana
- Adampur
- Bhatinda
- Chandigarh
- Nal
- Phalodi
- Uttarlai
- Bhuj
These attempts were also intercepted and repelled by the Indian Armed Forces, demonstrating the country’s strong defence preparedness and quick response capability.
The Defence Minister’s review underscores the seriousness with which India views the recent provocations and the government’s commitment to maintaining national security amid rising tensions.
