Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose to be honoured with 'Jai Hind Padyatra' in Andamans.

To mark the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, the Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Raksha Khadse, will lead the ‘Jai Hind Padyatra’ on 23rd January 2025 in Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

The event honours the immense contributions of Netaji to India’s freedom struggle and aims to inspire a new generation with his vision for an independent and progressive nation.

The Padyatra will see the participation of over 1,500 MY Bharat Youth Volunteers and youth leaders. The march will cover a picturesque route of about 5 kilometres, starting from Flag Point and concluding at Netaji Stadium.

Along this route, the event will pay tribute to India’s freedom fighters, blending patriotism with community spirit.

The celebrations will feature various activities designed to commemorate Netaji’s legacy and foster awareness of his ideals among young people.

The Padyatra will include competitions focusing on the theme of Netaji’s life and the freedom movement. Participants will engage in painting, essay writing, quizzes, and declamation contests that explore Netaji’s role in the independence struggle.

These activities aim to deepen the understanding of his sacrifices and strategies.

The event will also showcase cultural performances, featuring group songs, traditional dances, and other artistic expressions reflecting the vibrancy of India’s heritage. These performances will celebrate Netaji’s ideals and the diverse cultural fabric of the nation.

A special exhibition will be organised as part of the celebrations. A photo gallery will display key moments from Netaji’s life and his milestones during the independence movement.

Additionally, stalls will highlight the unique handicrafts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, offering visitors a glimpse into the local culture and artistry.

Prominent youth leaders and achievers will also be felicitated during the event. These young icons will be honoured for their contributions to nation-building and societal development, reinforcing the values of service and leadership.

In a symbolic tribute, army officers and their families will participate in the event. This gesture underlines the connection between Netaji’s legacy and India’s defence forces, recognising the enduring impact of his vision on the nation’s military ethos.

The Jai Hind Padyatra in Port Blair is the fifth in a series of 24 events planned to commemorate 75 years of the Indian Constitution. As part of this year-long celebration, two such padyatras are being held each month by MY Bharat volunteers across the country.

These marches aim to inspire patriotism and deepen the public’s connection to India’s cultural and historical heritage.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports invites young people across India to join this initiative. Those interested can register through the MY Bharat Portal (www.mybharat.gov.in) to participate in this symbolic march of pride.

By joining the Padyatra, they will not only honour the legacy of Subhash Chandra Bose but also contribute to building a stronger, united, and self-reliant India.
