Shiv Sena UBT Leader Sanjay Raut Calls For Unbiased Election Process in State.

In a recent statement, Sanjay Raut, a leader from the Shiv Sena (UBT), expressed serious concerns about the upcoming elections in Maharashtra. His remarks came after the Election Commission announced that the assembly elections would take place on November 20, with vote counting scheduled for November 23.

Raut emphasised the need for the Election Commission to ensure a fair electoral process, particularly in light of recent controversies surrounding elections in Haryana.

Raut's comments reflected a growing unease about the integrity of the electoral process. He pointed out that both electronic voting machines (EVMs) and postal ballots could potentially be misused. Raut insisted that it is the responsibility of the Election Commission to address these issues and maintain impartiality throughout the election process.

He urged the Commission to safeguard the elections from any form of manipulation, warning that monetary influences could also play a role in compromising the fairness of the elections.

While expressing his doubts about the Election Commission’s neutrality, Raut made it clear that the Shiv Sena (UBT) would not allow the Maharashtra elections to mirror the alleged irregularities seen in Haryana.

His concerns highlighted a broader sentiment among opposition parties regarding the security and credibility of the voting systems in place. Raut pointedly remarked, “EVMs are not foolproof,” urging the Commission to take these warnings seriously.

In addition to his criticisms, Raut expressed confidence in Maha Vikas Aghadi's chances in the upcoming elections. He firmly believed that the people of Maharashtra were ready for change and would rally behind his party. He stated that the current government, formed with the backing of prominent figures like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, lacked legitimacy and would face a tough challenge at the polls.

Raut's assertion that the government would be ousted underscores his belief that the electorate is prepared to make a decisive choice against the existing administration.

Raut's emphasis on individual seat victories rather than focusing solely on the overall numbers reflects a strategic approach to the elections. He noted that success in specific constituencies is crucial for any party's overall success. “This isn’t a numbers game. Whoever wins their seat will keep it,” he explained, highlighting the importance of grassroots support in the electoral process.

Earlier this month, leaders from the Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition, which includes the Shiv Sena (UBT), the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Sharad Pawar, and the Congress party, convened to discuss their strategy for the upcoming elections.

During these discussions, Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole mentioned that the opposition alliance would make key announcements about seat-sharing arrangements before the Dussehra festival.

This proactive approach signals their intent to present a united front against the ruling coalition, known as the MahaYuti Alliance, which comprises the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Eknath Shinde faction of the Shiv Sena, and the Ajit Pawar faction of the NCP.
