RG Kar case: Victim's family seeks justice from Prez, PM

The accusation of conspiracy and evidence manipulation in the incident is currently being investigated by the investigating agency.

Entire nation came together to seek justice for the RG Kar rape-murder victim.

Frustrated with the lack of progress and losing faith in the role of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the parents of the RG Kar rape and murder victim have decided to escalate their fight for justice.

They now plan to meet President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi to press for swift action.

The CBI still has not finished its probe into the case's conspiracy angle after more than seven months. The accusation of conspiracy and evidence manipulation in the incident is currently being investigated by the investigating agency.

Sources indicate that the family aims to meet not only the President and Prime Minister but also Home Minister Amit Shah and the CBI Director. Their plea is clear: they seek immediate justice for their daughter, whose tragic death remains unresolved despite months of investigation.

The victim's father expressed deep dissatisfaction with the probe’s progress, stating, "We are extremely disappointed. The investigation has been moving at a snail’s pace, and we have not even received crucial forensic reports such as CFSL and DNA test results. That is why we are heading to Delhi to demand justice for our daughter."

He further revealed that they have already sent an email to the CBI Director requesting a meeting but have yet to receive a response. Additionally, they have sought appointments with the President, Prime Minister, and Home Minister, determined to highlight their grievances at the highest levels of governance.

CBI Identifies Main Accused, but Family Alleges Investigation Misdirection

The CBI has identified and convicted Sanjay Roy, a former civic volunteer of Kolkata police arrested in the RG Kar case, as the prime accused. He was sentenced to life imprisonment, with the court convicting him on January 18 and sentencing him on January 20. However, from the outset, the victim’s family has contested the investigation’s direction, alleging that crucial leads are being ignored and justice is being denied.

Despite the conviction, the family insists that the real culprits remain at large and that the investigation is being intentionally misdirected. Their decision to approach the central leadership underscores their desperation for a fair and transparent probe.

On last Monday, the CBI submitted a status report to the Sealdah court, stating that the investigation is ongoing. The agency also informed the court that they will not return the seized SIM card of former Tala Police Station OC Abhijit Mondal, who was arrested and later granted bail, as it holds critical evidence pertinent to the case. Additionally, the CBI has announced plans to submit an additional charge sheet soon.
