The hearing on Monday in RG Kar Medical College rape and murder case was held via virtual mode at the CBI’s special court in Sealdah on Monday following the accused Sanjay Roy’s recent statements accusing former Kolkata police commissioner Vineet Goyal and the state government of framing him.

The day-to-day hearing of the case will be held through virtual mode till November 28, according to a recent order passed by the magistrate.

While boarding the court premises after the recent in-camera hearing sessions, Roy made the allegations before the scribes.

On last occasion, policemen banged on the prison van and honked repeatedly to foil any attempt by Roy to speak to those waiting outside the court.

Roy, a former civic volunteer of Kolkata police, was mentioned as the lone accused in the chargesheet submitted by the CBI, the central agency probing into the case following a Kolkata High Court order. The chagesheet mentioned about biological, scientific and digital evidence that portrayed Roy as the lone accused who committed the heinious crime of raping and murdering a postgraduate trainee doctor at the state-run healthcare facility.

The federal agency is also probing into the allegations of tampering evidence against principal of the medical college Sandip Ghosh and officer-in-charge of local police station Abhijit Mondal, who are presently in judicial custody.
