A police constable who was part of the security team stationed at cricketer Sachin Tendulkar's residence reportedly took his own life in Jalgaon district of Maharashtra.

Prakash Govind Kapade, aged 39 and attached to the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), allegedly shot himself with his service revolver during the early hours of Wednesday, according to an official statement.

Kapade, who had recently returned to his hometown Jamner with his family, was found deceased after other household members were awakened by the sound of a gunshot.

Despite immediate medical attention, Kapade was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Investigators from the Jamner police department visited the scene, yet no suicide note was discovered, leaving the motive behind Kapade's actions unclear.

Having served in the SRPF for 15 years, Kapade was on deputation to the Special Protection Unit (SPU) of the Maharashtra Police, with a recent assignment involving security duties at Tendulkar's Bandra residence.

Authorities are currently conducting a probe to determine the circumstances surrounding Kapade's suicide.
