BJP MP and national spokesperson Sambit Patra launched a scathing attack on Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and senior Congress leaders for their remarks regarding Operation Sindoor and the performance of Rafale jets. Speaking at a press conference held at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi on Friday, Patra accused the Congress party of echoing sentiments that align more with Pakistan than with national interest.
Referring to recent statements made by CM Revanth Reddy, who questioned the efficacy of Rafale jets during Operation Sindoor, Patra said, “Yeh jo Pakistan ke Babbar hain, woh Hindustan ke Gabbar hain” — implying that those speaking Pakistan’s language are trying to pose as heroes in India.
Patra took particular aim at Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Revanth Reddy, and Jairam Ramesh for questioning how many Rafale jets were allegedly shot down, rather than seeking accountability from Pakistan. “Rahul Gandhi did not ask how many Pakistani airbases were destroyed or how many terrorists were killed. Instead, he wants to know how many Indian planes were shot down,” said Patra. He suggested that such questions demoralize the armed forces and serve to undermine India's military operations.
The BJP MP claimed that there are now two clear factions within the Congress — one that openly supports Pakistan and another that wants to stand up for India but remains silent due to the influence of Rahul Gandhi. “Your so-called ‘Jai Hind Yatra’ appears more like a ‘Pakistan Hind Yatra’. If you truly stand with the country, then stop this yatra and instead hold a joint press conference with Pakistan,” he remarked sarcastically.
Patra also targeted Jairam Ramesh for comments he made regarding a multi-party parliamentary delegation that visited foreign nations to highlight India’s stance. According to Patra, Ramesh equated MPs with terrorists by suggesting both were "roaming around". “This is an insult to the representatives of India. Our MPs were not on a tour; they were there to firmly present India’s case to the world, and members of your own party were also part of that delegation,” he said.
He further accused the previous UPA government of compromising national security. “There was a time when terrorists were called to the Prime Minister’s Office. We all remember how Sonia Gandhi wept over the death of terrorists. Compare that to now — the Indian Armed Forces have destroyed nine terrorist hideouts in Pakistan. These were shown through satellite images and confirmed by the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO),” Patra asserted.

His comments were in response to statements made a day earlier by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Reddy had claimed that Rafale fighter jets procured under Prime Minister Modi's leadership were downed by Pakistan during the recent operations. “You favoured close associates with contracts worth thousands of crores to purchase Rafale jets, and yet, those jets were destroyed. The Prime Minister should be held accountable,” Reddy had said.
The Telangana CM also objected to what he described as the Modi government’s abrupt halting of military operations under pressure from then-U.S. President Donald Trump. He reiterated that both Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had attended the all-party meeting and expressed full support for India’s efforts to reclaim Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Reddy claimed he had already declared his stance in favour of splitting Pakistan into two countries.
Emphasising Congress’s legacy, Reddy said that the Gandhi family had made significant sacrifices for the nation and called PM Modi a “spent force.” He urged Congress leaders and workers to continue striving until Rahul Gandhi became the Prime Minister of India.
Additionally, Reddy criticised the BJP’s recent Tiranga Rally, stating that the Congress's ‘Jai Hind Yatra’ was being held to rebuild the morale of Indian soldiers, which he claimed had been undermined by BJP’s recent actions.
