Samir Modi, brother of fugitive businessman and former IPL chief Lalit Modi, has been arrested by the Delhi Police on charges of rape.
The arrest was carried out on Thursday by officers from the New Friends Colony police station.
Delhi Police officials told that Samir Modi was taken into custody in Southeast Delhi on Thursday, September 18, after the registration of rape charges against him.
He was detained at the Delhi airport upon his return from abroad and subsequently handed over to investigators at the New Friends Colony police station.

An FIR was lodged against Samir Modi on September 10 under Sections 376 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
A police source told that the complaint against him was first received in 2019, prompting an investigation that has now resulted in his arrest.
The investigation into the case is ongoing, police said.
