Security measures across India have been significantly heightened ahead of Independence Day celebrations. With Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to hoist the Tricolour at the Red Fort and address the nation, Delhi police have ramped up their efforts around the iconic monument.

Personnel have been deployed extensively, and bomb disposal squads, accompanied by sniffer dogs, are meticulously checking the vicinity of the Red Fort to ensure safety.

In addition to physical security, Delhi Police have embraced modern technology, integrating artificial intelligence into their surveillance efforts. Numerous CCTV cameras have been installed, along with special cameras on Door Frame Metal Detectors (DFMD) that are linked to a facial recognition system. This system is designed to monitor and verify the identities of the invitees attending the event at Red Fort.

Patrolling has also been intensified along the Yamuna River, with Delhi Police collaborating with Border Security Force personnel. These patrols are being closely monitored, even utilising binoculars to keep a vigilant watch over the area. The heightened security measures are not limited to the national capital; they extend across various states.

In Punjab, security arrangements have been tightened to ensure peace and safety. Bathinda Police, for instance, have taken proactive measures, including conducting flag marches in sensitive areas, as confirmed by Bathinda SSP Amneet Kondal. The police remain on high alert, fully aware of their responsibilities during such significant occasions.

In Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in the Samba district, security has also been bolstered ahead of the 78th Independence Day. Special Naka points have been set up on the Batote-Doda highway, as part of a joint operation between the Indian Army and J&K Police. This operation, launched in the Akar Forest near Patnitop, has resulted in contact with terrorists, and efforts are ongoing to neutralise any threats.

Mumbai has also witnessed a surge in security measures, with police conducting thorough checks on vehicles to prevent any potential incidents. Similarly, in Uttar Pradesh, the police have deployed forces in all sensitive areas.

ADCP Noida, Manish Mishra, emphasised the heightened security, noting that police are actively checking suspicious vehicles and maintaining vigilance in anticipation of the celebrations.

As India prepares to celebrate its 78th Independence Day, the combined efforts of the police and security forces across the country reflect a commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
