Shah, Jaishankar hail PM Modi's tenure of 12 yrs as historic

PM Modi, who first assumed office in May 2014, was sworn in for a third consecutive term on June 9, 2024.The Union ministers hailed this period as historic and said PM Modi worked tirelessly all these years without taking a day off.

The Union minister highlighted achievements of PM Modi led government at Centre during last 12 years.


 

Union ministers Amit Shah and S. Jaishankar on Tuesday highlighted what they described as the key achievements of the BJP-led government while marking 12 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure at the Centre . The Union ministers hailed this period as historic and said PM Modi worked tirelessly all these years without taking a day off.

 

PM Modi, who first assumed office in May 2014, was sworn in for a third consecutive term on June 9, 2024.In a post on X, Amit Shah said that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, India has witnessed both unprecedented development and large-scale welfare initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the poor.

 

“Honourable Shri Narendra Modi ji took the oath of office as Prime Minister for the third consecutive time on this very day. Under Modi ji’s leadership, over these 12 years, the country has witnessed for the first time the parallel realisation of poor welfare and unprecedented development,” Shah said.

 

Highlighting various welfare and infrastructure initiatives, the Home Minister referred to free foodgrain distribution to over 80 crore beneficiaries, housing support for more than four crore families, health insurance coverage under Ayushman Bharat, expansion of airport infrastructure, construction of roads and expressways, and the rollout of Vande Bharat trains across the country.

 

Shah said Prime Minister Modi had worked tirelessly in service of the nation over the past 12 years and described the government’s achievements as the result of leadership driven by national interest and dedication. The Modi government’s tenure has witnessed several major infrastructure and nation-building projects, including the new Parliament building, Central Vista redevelopment, Kartavya Path, Vande Bharat trains, the Statue of Unity, INS Vikrant, the Kashmir rail link, Noida International Airport, Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) and the Ganga Expressway.

 

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also highlighted the transformation in India’s foreign policy and diplomatic outreach over the past decade.In a statement posted on X, Jaishankar said the Ministry of External Affairs has expanded citizen-centric services, making passport issuance and document attestation more accessible while strengthening support systems for Indians living abroad.

 

The External Affairs Minister also highlighted India’s evacuation operations from conflict zones, including Ukraine, Afghanistan, Sudan and Israel, and said the government has worked to facilitate overseas employment opportunities and market access for Indian businesses.

 

According to Jaishankar, India has concluded 21 mobility partnerships and expanded its diplomatic footprint by opening 44 new embassies and consulates.He added that efforts have also been made to promote Indian culture, heritage and traditions globally while enhancing support for Indian students studying abroad.

 

“Indian diplomacy works 24/7 for the nation. Indians travel abroad today with greater confidence and a stronger sense of pride,” Jaishankar said.Prime Minister Modi’s 12-year tenure has made him one of India’s longest-serving leaders.
