Sherry Singh has created history by becoming the first Indian in 48 years to win the Mrs Universe crown. She clinched the prestigious Mrs Universe 2025 title after competing against over 120 contestants from across the world at the global pageant held at Okada, Manila, in the Philippines.
The victory marks a proud moment for India, with the crown returning to the country nearly five decades after it was last won.
“History has been made. After 48 long years, the Mrs Universe crown finally comes home. India’s very own Sherry Singh, crowned Mrs Universe 2025, has brought glory to our nation with her grace, strength, and perseverance. A proud moment for every Indian and for the entire UMB Pageants family who stood tall on the global stage once again. The crown is back where it belongs, in India,” UMB Pageants said in a statement celebrating her win.
Who is Sherry Singh
According to multiple reports, Sherry Singh is the mother of a young son and a former national-level basketball player. Known for her dedication to fitness and well-being, she is also a fitness enthusiast.
Sherry holds a Master’s degree in fashion and has worked with several organisations supporting education for girls from underprivileged backgrounds. She has also been actively involved in promoting emotional well-being.
In viral clips circulating online from the crowning moment, Sherry was seen visibly emotional as her name was announced as the winner, with confetti raining down on the stage.

What Sherry Singh said about her win
Speaking to the media after her victory, Sherry Singh described her triumph as surreal, especially as it happened in the Philippines — the same country where India’s first Miss Universe, Sushmita Sen, was crowned in 1994.
“It feels like a dream, and I don’t want to wake up from this dream, that’s what it feels like,” she said, expressing her joy and disbelief at winning the coveted title.
Born in 1975, Sushmita Sen became the first Indian woman to be crowned Miss Universe in 1994. Sen later made her acting debut in the thriller Dastak in 1996, where she played a fictionalised version of herself, and went on to feature in several successful Bollywood films, including Main Hoon Na and Aankhen.
