On Tuesday, Maharashtra’s caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde convened a hybrid meeting with key officials to discuss the preparations for the commemoration of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s death anniversary, scheduled for December 6.

The event will take place at Chaityabhoomi, the iconic memorial dedicated to Ambedkar in Mumbai. In attendance were Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, State Minister Deepak Kesarkar, and Chief Secretary Sujata Sounik, among other senior officials.

While preparations for the Ambedkar event were being finalised, news emerged that Shinde had been rushed to a hospital in Thane earlier in the day due to ongoing health issues.

The Chief Minister has been suffering from a throat infection and fever for the past week, with doctors advising a thorough examination of his health.

Despite his condition, Shinde’s commitment to the event and the ongoing state developments remained clear, as he continued overseeing preparations remotely.

Simultaneously, arrangements are underway for another significant event on December 5 – the swearing-in ceremony of the newly formed Mahayuti government.

This ceremony will take place at Azad Maidan in Mumbai at 5 pm, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to attend. The announcement of the oath-taking ceremony was made by BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule on November 30.

Senior BJP leaders, including Girish Mahajan, have been working closely with Shinde to ensure smooth proceedings for both the ceremony and government formation.

In his meeting with Girish Mahajan, Shinde reaffirmed that there were no tensions within the Mahayuti alliance regarding the government formation. Mahajan, speaking after the meeting, confirmed that there was no conflict among the alliance’s leaders.

He described the discussions as productive, with both sides focused on the work ahead for the people of Maharashtra. Mahajan also made it clear that the alliance, which includes the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP, was united in its approach.

In the national capital, further developments took place regarding the Mahayuti government. Shinde, along with key leaders such as Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP president JP Nadda to discuss the finalisation of the government formation process.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman as central observers to oversee the election of the Maharashtra Chief Minister and the leader of the BJP legislative party.

Eknath Shinde has expressed his willingness to support the BJP’s decision on who will take on the Chief Minister’s role.

This marks a pivotal moment for the Mahayuti alliance, which secured a decisive victory in the Maharashtra assembly elections, the results of which were announced on November 23.

With the alliance now set to take charge of the state government, all eyes are on the upcoming events, including the swearing-in ceremony, which will be closely watched by political observers and the public alike.
