In a major escalation of hostilities, multiple areas in Jammu, including the civil airstrip, came under attack Thursday night as rockets were fired from across the International Border. The assault follows a day after India’s precision strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) under Operation Sindoor.

Security agencies confirmed that eight missiles were launched from Pakistani territory, with specific targets including Jammu civil airport, Samba, RS Pura, Arnia, and surrounding civilian-populated areas. Thanks to India's robust air defence systems, all incoming missiles were successfully intercepted mid-air by the advanced S-400 missile defence system.

In a related incident, two Pakistani drones were shot down near the Jammu University area. Air defence units responded swiftly and continue to remain on high alert as they intercept further aerial threats across key regions including Udhampur, Akhnoor, Jammu, and Pathankot.

Air raid sirens were activated around strategic installations such as the Jammu Airport and Pathankot Airbase. As a security precaution, a complete blackout was imposed in these zones to reduce visibility for incoming threats. Additionally, mobile communication services were disrupted across Jammu city.

Local residents reported multiple loud explosions throughout the night, heightening panic in the region. Emergency response teams and military units have been deployed to assess damage and maintain calm in affected zones.

This marked retaliatory action by Pakistan comes amid heightened cross-border tensions and follows India's firm warning that any further aggression would be met with an appropriate and proportional response.
