Preliminary findings suggest that the explosive material used in the Delhi blast originated from Dhauj village in Faridabad.

Amidst concern has emerged over how Al-Falah University in Faridabad served as the undetected operational base for an extremist module that allegedly functioned for years, even as multiple central agencies continue their parallel probes into the recent Delhi blast. In response, the Faridabad Police on Thursday constituted a dedicated Special Investigation Team (SIT) to conduct an in-depth examination of the university’s role, officials said.

The SIT, which is being led by two Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) and comprises one inspector and two sub-inspectors, has immediately begun compiling a detailed and comprehensive report covering every facet of the university’s functioning, its funding patterns, and any possible external or internal support networks that may have sustained the module.

Senior officials confirmed that the team has received explicit directions to thoroughly map all connections that allowed the accused doctors to treat the campus as a safe haven. This includes investigating how the suspects procured explosives, stored them securely on or near the campus, and subsequently transported the material from Faridabad to Delhi without triggering any alarm with local or state authorities.

“A SIT has been formed in the investigation of Al Falah University linked to the Delhi blast. The SIT has started probing all aspects,” the spokesperson of Faridabad Police stated, adding that the team has been specifically tasked with tracing and documenting every link that enabled the accused doctors to carry out their activities from the university premises.

Faridabad Police Commissioner Satender Kumar Gupta has personally instructed the SIT to scrutinise the campus environment that apparently permitted an extremist module to thrive undetected over an extended period. The investigators are now collecting exhaustive data on the university’s financial channels, the movement patterns of the suspects, any alleged local assistance received from surrounding villages, and the sudden disappearance of several faculty members after the blast case came to light.

The formation of the SIT came within hours of Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) OP Singh’s visit to the Al-Falah University campus on Tuesday. During the visit, Singh voiced grave concern over what he described as the “collapse of internal security mechanisms” at the institution. He directed both the Faridabad Deputy Commissioner and the Police Commissioner to oversee the entire investigation personally and to “take the lead from the front.

”Early leads indicate that the explosive material deployed in the Delhi blast was sourced from Dhauj village in Faridabad district itself. The SIT is now carrying out a low-profile but intensive inquiry along the entire supply-and-transport route, identifying possible facilitators and pinpointing the critical operational lapses that allowed the accused to remain under the radar for so long.

In a separate but related fallout, Al-Falah University has been excluded from the ongoing North Zone Inter-University Cricket Tournament hosted by Aligarh Muslim University. The tournament features participation from eighty-four universities across northern India. The scheduled match between Al-Falah University and Manav Rachna University, originally fixed for November 22, has been officially cancelled, with the organisers citing the continuing investigation and related security concerns as the reason for the decision.
