Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday has announced the formation of a special investigation team to probe the ghee procurement for Tirupati laddu.
An audit of raw material procurement for all temples in the state has also been ordered.
This follows allegations that substandard ingredients, including animal fat, were used in making the sacred sweet during the previous YSRCP government.
Addressing a press conference, Naidu said, “We are forming a Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising officers of IGP and above posts. The SIT will submit a report to the government and we will take action based on that report so that such things are not repeated.”
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Sunday criticised the previous YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSRCP government over the Tirupati Prasadam controversy, accusing it of playing with people’s emotions and disregarding their sentiments.
The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister claimed that the previous government had played with people’s sentiments and failed to honour their feelings.
In an official statement, the TDP said, “Every religion has certain traditions and commitments, and the government needs to respect all of them, Chandrababu Naidu stated while interacting with the media at the TDP central office, where he received appeals from visitors.”
