At least six people have been killed while several others were injured when a bus carrying passengers skidded off the road near Darbuk in Leh Ladakh.
Eyewitnesses reported that the bus was on its way to Darbuk in the wee hours of the morning when the tragic accident took place.
Sources added that the bus veered off the road and fell down several feet.
Soon after the accident, authorities launched operations to rescue the injured.
When the rescuers went to the accident scene, they retrieved six dead bodies and rescued several injured persons.
The injured persons were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment of the injuries.
"Six persons died and 22 were injured, many of them critically.
They are being brought to Leh via chopper service," Sukhadeva said. Seriously injured ones have been airlifted to Leh and both the Army as well as the District Hospital in Leh have been mobilised for emergency medical care.
Well, rescue operations have already begun and are almost complete, with the authorities putting a lot into ensuring that all those involved get the assistance they need.
