Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi was discharged from Delhi’s Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on Thursday, where she had been admitted following an intestinal infection, as per the hospital.
The 78-year-old leader had been under care since June 15.
The hospital’s chairman, Ajay Swaroop said that Gandhi was stable but would continue to receive outpatient care. The other senior doctors involved in her care include Dr. S Nundy and Dr. Amitabh Yadav.
“She was admitted for an abdominal infection, which has been managed with medications. Her condition has improved, and she will be closely monitored as an outpatient,” the doctors attending on her stated in a release.
Gandhi had been admitted to the hospital’s gastroenterology department last Sunday, after her return from a Shimla trip where she had visited the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital on June 7 for a routine health check-up.
