Arvind Kejriwal’s bail granted by the Supreme Court has brought significant relief to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its supporters. His wife, Sunita Kejriwal, expressed her joy over the decision, congratulating the entire AAP family for their resilience during the challenging period. She also voiced her hopes for the swift release of other AAP leaders still incarcerated, showing her solidarity with the party’s ongoing struggle.
Sunita Kejriwal took to social media, writing, "Congratulations to the AAP family! Kudos for staying strong." This statement highlighted her gratitude for the unwavering support of AAP members and followers. She emphasised that the fight continues, especially for other leaders who remain behind bars.
The AAP leadership has also shown optimism following the decision. MP Raghav Chadha welcomed the court’s ruling, thanking the Supreme Court for granting bail to the Delhi Chief Minister.
He described Kejriwal as more than just a political figure, calling him a "brand of honest politics." Chadha pointed out that Kejriwal’s growing popularity was the reason for his six-month imprisonment.
He further added that AAP would emerge even stronger from this ordeal. His statement concluded with a note of excitement, indicating that Kejriwal would now lead AAP’s campaign in the upcoming Haryana elections.
The court’s decision has reignited a sense of hope within the party. Former Deputy Chief Minister and AAP leader Manish Sisodia expressed his satisfaction with the outcome, stating that the truth had once again triumphed over lies and conspiracies.
Sisodia went on to praise Kejriwal as one of the most honest and patriotic politicians, lamenting how various conspiracies were hatched to arrest him. According to Sisodia, the BJP had plotted relentlessly to imprison a man whose sole mission was to improve the lives of ordinary people.
He described Kejriwal’s arrest as a significant injustice and thanked the Supreme Court, Constitution, and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar for upholding the truth.
Sisodia saw this as not only a victory for Kejriwal but also an exposure of the lies orchestrated to undermine him. He ended by thanking the people who prayed for Kejriwal’s release, believing their prayers were answered.
In addition to AAP, other political leaders have voiced their support for the court’s decision. Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Pramod Tiwari commended the ruling, comparing it to a recent bail granted to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
He claimed the Supreme Court found Kejriwal’s case to be bailable and criticised the central government for allegedly misusing investigative agencies against opposition parties.
Tiwari described the atmosphere in the country as one filled with fear due to this misuse of power. He concluded by welcoming the unanimous decision of the court.
The Supreme Court’s ruling focused on the importance of liberty and justice, as it stated that prolonged incarceration amounted to an unjust deprivation of freedom. This verdict follows months of legal proceedings after Kejriwal’s arrest in March 2024.
The case revolves around an alleged excise policy scam, where Kejriwal was implicated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for money laundering related to irregularities in the Delhi excise policy of 2021-22. Kejriwal was first arrested by the ED in March 2024 and later by the CBI while still in ED custody.
The AAP supremo’s release has not only been a personal victory for him but also a boost for his party, giving them the opportunity to focus on future political battles, including the upcoming elections in Haryana.
The case itself, which has been a focal point of controversy for months, underscores the heated political climate in India, where the ruling government and opposition parties often accuse each other of misusing power and government agencies.
