The Supreme Court is set to hear influencer Ranveer Allahbadia’s plea on Tuesday, seeking to combine multiple FIRs filed against him for alleged obscene comments made on comedian Samay Raina's YouTube show, India’s Got Latent. A bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh will review the case.
The issue gained traction after Allahbadia made controversial remarks on India’s Got Latent, leading to several FIRs being filed against him and others involved.
In addition to Allahbadia and Raina, the Assam case also names YouTube celebrities Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija.
On Friday, Abhinav Chandrachud, the son of former CJI DY Chandrachud, filed for an urgent hearing, which Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna assured would be addressed within two to three days.

- Allahbadia, known for his YouTube channel ‘BeerBiceps’, has been unreachable by investigation agencies, according to a joint statement from Mumbai and Guwahati Police. They noted that Allahbadia has yet to respond to FIRs filed by Maharashtra Cyber Department, Guwahati Police, and Jaipur Police.
- The Maharashtra Cyber Cell has issued a summons to Allahbadia, asking him to appear on February 24. Comedian Samay Raina is also set to appear before the Cyber Cell on February 18.
- The National Commission for Women (NCW) has summoned Allahbadia, Raina, and others to its New Delhi office on Monday, following their controversial remarks. NCW stated it took serious note of the vulgar remarks made by the creators and producers of the show.
- Several individuals summoned failed to attend the hearing due to personal safety concerns, prior international commitments, and logistical issues. Allahbadia claimed to have received death threats and requested a new hearing date, which NCW rescheduled for March 6.
- Jaspreet Singh, currently on a tour in Paris, informed the Commission he would return by March 10, and cooperate with the inquiry. His hearing was rescheduled for March 11.
- Samay Raina, who is in the US for a pre-planned tour, assured NCW that he would be available for a hearing upon his return. His hearing is set for March 11.
- Raina publicly apologized for the remarks, stating that the situation had become overwhelming. He clarified that his intention was to entertain and make people laugh. He also confirmed his cooperation with the investigations.
- Following the controversy, a formal complaint was filed with the Mumbai Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women's Commission, alleging that the show used offensive language and inappropriate comments about women to gain popularity and financial gain.
- The issue originated from Allahbadia’s remarks about “parents and sex” on India’s Got Latent, which has since been removed from YouTube.
