In the wake of the alleged assault incident involving Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal at the Delhi Chief Minister's residence, her ex-husband, Naveen Jaihind, has come forward expressing grave concern over her safety.

Naveen Jaihind asserted that Swati Maliwal's life is under threat, implicating someone behind the planned assault. He emphasised that the incident, orchestrated against her, has left her vulnerable, and urged her to speak up for herself.

Addressing the media, Naveen Jaihind disclosed his observations, shedding light on the orchestrated nature of the assault on Swati Maliwal. He claimed that the assault was executed at the instructions of someone, indicating a premeditated plan aimed at inflicting harm.

Despite being divorced and out of contact with Swati Maliwal for the past four years, Naveen Jaihind expressed solidarity with her, urging her to confront the situation and assert her voice.

He directed his message towards AAP leader Sanjay Singh, urging him to refrain from theatrical acts and acknowledge the severity of the situation, given his awareness of the circumstances.

In response to the incident, AAP leader Sanjay Singh addressed the press, condemning the assault on Swati Maliwal. He highlighted Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's swift action in taking cognizance of the incident and ensuring stringent measures against those responsible.

Sanjay Singh reiterated the party's unequivocal support for Swati Maliwal, affirming solidarity in seeking justice for her. Meanwhile, Delhi Police stated that no formal complaint has been lodged regarding the alleged assault at the Chief Minister's residence.

Despite responding to a PCR call reporting the incident, Swati Maliwal left the police station without registering a complaint. The absence of a formal complaint has prompted the police to await further communication from Swati Maliwal before proceeding with the investigation.

The alleged assault incident has triggered a political uproar, evident in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) House proceedings. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) councillors raised objections over the incident, demanding accountability and ensuring the safety of women in Delhi.

BJP's censure motion underscored concerns regarding women's safety in the capital, especially within the Chief Minister's residence premises. Amidst the escalating political tension, the Supreme Court's decision to grant interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal until June 1 adds another dimension to the unfolding events.

With the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi scheduled for May 25, the alleged assault incident casts a shadow over the political landscape, heightening anticipation and scrutiny leading up to the elections.

As AAP and Congress prepare for a joint electoral campaign, the incident involving Swati Maliwal underscores the importance of ensuring a safe and conducive political environment for all candidates and stakeholders involved.
