Janshakti Janta Dal (JJD) Founder Tej Pratap Yadav on Monday confirmed that his party will actively contest the upcoming Bihar Legislative Assembly elections.

Speaking after the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the poll dates, Yadav said, “Janshakti Janta Dal will face this and fight the elections. Candidates will be announced the day after, when we hold a press conference.”

The Election Commission earlier in the day announced that elections for Bihar’s 243 Assembly seats will be held in two phases — on November 6 and November 11 — with the counting of votes scheduled for November 14.

Tej Pratap Yadav, elder son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, was expelled from the RJD and his family for six years following the circulation of a social media post that showed him with a woman named Anushka Yadav, claiming they had been in a relationship for 12 years.

Yadav denied making the post, alleging that his Facebook account had been hacked and that his opponents had uploaded the content as part of a larger conspiracy.

Following his expulsion, Tej Pratap launched a new political platform, the Janshakti Janta Dal, and began touring Bihar to strengthen his party’s presence.

During his campaigns, he has often targeted his opponents using the phrase “Jaychand” (traitor), a term he has also used to caution his younger brother and Leader of Opposition, Tejashwi Yadav.

Meanwhile, Tejashwi Yadav reacted to the ECI’s announcement, saying, “We don’t want a CM who pleads; we want a CM who roars like a lion. Someone who can fight for the rights of the people of Bihar and get them justice.”

Calling November 14 — the day of counting — a “historic date that will be written in golden letters,” the former Deputy Chief Minister said that the people of Bihar were eager for change after “20 years of crime, corruption, bureaucracy, tyranny and scams.”

Tejashwi positioned himself as a leader of transformation, asserting that the INDIA bloc would form the next government in the state. He assured the youth that employment would be his foremost priority once in power.

“Mahagathbandhan will form the government. When Tejashwi becomes the CM, there will be no house in Bihar that will have unemployed youth. When Tejashwi comes, he will give jobs to everyone. Unemployment will be rooted out of Bihar,” he declared.
