Tejashwi Yadav says BJP's fear tactics will not succeed in Bihar

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday criticised the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), asserting that the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) “tactics of spreading fear” through the repeated “jungle raj” narrative would not work ahead of the Bihar Assembly election due later this year.

RJD Leader and Son of Lalu Yadav, Tejashwi targets NDA over poverty and poor governance.

Speaking at the Vaishya Representative Conference in Patna, Yadav accused the Nitish Kumar-led government of ignoring pressing economic issues and focusing instead on fear-mongering.

“We’ve been in opposition for the last 20 years, and they’re still crying about us. Why don’t they take accountability for their governance? What’s their plan for trade in Bihar? How will they make small businesses viable? They never talk about that. All they say is that ‘jungle raj’ will return. I was Deputy Chief Minister for 18 months — did people stop stepping out of their homes?” Yadav asked.

Slamming the NDA’s record, Yadav said Bihar continues to struggle with poverty, unemployment, and migration. Referring to a NITI Aayog report, he said, “Bihar ranks number one in poverty, migration and unemployment. What industries have they brought in? If they had even opened one sugar mill, do let me know.”

Yadav criticised the government’s failure to improve health and education, alleging that even the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data shows crime has risen in Bihar since 2005. “What have they done to make the state safer? Has the chief minister visited even one victim’s family to offer condolences?” he asked.

The RJD leader also accused Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of hypocrisy over law and order. “Nitish Kumar talks about jungle raj but gives parole to criminals who keep AK-47s in their homes,” he said.

Promising a new vision for the state, Yadav said, “We want to give Bihar a government that delivers education, healthcare, income, irrigation, and genuine action. Today, there is neither listening nor action. Corruption is rampant. There is no justice and certainly no development.”
