BJP Criticised by Yadav for Lack of Support on SC ST Reservation.

Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav has launched a strong criticism against the BJP, accusing them of failing to protect reservation rights for SC/ST communities. Yadav's remarks came in response to the Supreme Court's recent ruling on the creamy layer within SC/ST reservations.

Yadav questioned why the BJP, if genuinely supportive of SC/ST reservations, has not introduced an ordinance to counter the court’s decision on the creamy layer. He claimed that the ruling party's inaction reveals their true stance on the issue, labelling them as "Badka Jhootha Party," which translates to "Big Lying Party."

He alleged that the BJP’s primary activities include lying, spreading confusion, and fueling hatred, rather than genuinely working for the welfare of marginalised communities.

The Supreme Court's ruling allows states to sub-classify Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) and to determine representation based on effective rather than merely quantitative measures.

This decision permits states to evaluate the adequacy of representation within these groups, a move Yadav sees as a threat to the reservation system originally envisioned by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

Yadav criticised the BJP for allegedly undermining the reservation system by scrapping significant portions of it, including the 65 percent reservation and the 10 percent Economic Weaker Sections (EWS) quota.

He argued that the BJP has been working against these provisions, which are meant to uplift the backward classes and integrate them into the mainstream.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had previously stated that the Constitution drafted by Ambedkar does not provide for a creamy layer within SC/ST reservations, and that the NDA government is committed to adhering to this constitutional framework.

This statement, along with the Union Cabinet’s discussion on the Supreme Court judgement, highlights the ongoing debate over the reservation policy and its implementation.

In addition to his comments on reservations, Yadav also took a swipe at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, accusing him of failing to manage the state effectively. He pointed to rising crime rates, including murders and rapes, as evidence of Kumar’s inability to govern. Yadav argued that these issues reflect poorly on Kumar’s leadership and claimed that the situation is deteriorating under his administration.

Yadav's statements reflect a broader dissatisfaction with the current political landscape and a call for more robust measures to protect reservation rights and address governance failures.
