Tejashwi criticises Nitish for failing on liquor deaths.

Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the ruling NDA government, vowing to address key issues such as the liquor ban if his party comes to power.

His remarks came during his visit to Arrah, Bihar, where he attended the Karyakarta Darshan sah Samvad Yatra.

The recent tragedy in West Champaran, where six lives were lost due to the consumption of spurious liquor, became the focal point of Yadav’s criticism of the government. He condemned the administration's response to such incidents, accusing it of prioritising cover-ups over real action.

"Whenever deaths due to poisonous liquor occur, the administration focusses on hiding the numbers rather than taking meaningful action. It’s all about whitewashing," Yadav said.

Addressing questions about the state's liquor ban, Yadav hinted at the possibility of a review, stating that the issue would be thoroughly examined, with a decision being communicated later.

He emphasised that, if elected, his government would aim to fulfil all promises made to the people, including initiatives such as the ‘Mai Behan Maan Yojana’ and addressing the issue of inflated smart meter charges.

Tejashwi Yadav also took the opportunity to criticise the deteriorating law and order situation in Bihar, asserting that criminal incidents had surged dramatically under the current regime.

"The government remains silent. There is complete disorder in the state," he stated. His comments pointed to the apparent disconnect between Nitish Kumar and the ground realities, with Yadav criticising the CM's focus on his so-called Pragati Yatra. "Nitish Kumar is searching for progress in his own bad phase while travelling across Bihar," he said.

Turning his attention to Nitish Kumar's leadership, Yadav made sharp remarks about the Chief Minister’s age and governance style. He accused Kumar of relying heavily on retired officers for advice, claiming that the CM no longer had a clear vision for Bihar’s future.

"Nitish Kumar is now tired and is running the government based on advice from retired officers. He no longer has any vision for Bihar’s future," Yadav stated.

Yadav also criticised Nitish Kumar’s recent comments on women, labelling them as “shameful” and detrimental to Bihar’s reputation on a national level.

The remarks were widely perceived as damaging to the image of the state, and Yadav was quick to call them out as an example of the ruling government's failure to address important social issues.
