In a shocking incident in Gurugram’s Sushant Lok on Thursday, 25-year-old national-level tennis player Radhika Yadav was shot dead by her father, Deepak Yadav, allegedly over a dispute concerning her professional independence and income. The murder took place at their residence in Sushant Lok Phase 2 around 10 a.m.
According to police, Deepak Yadav was upset with Radhika for running her own tennis academy. He reportedly felt humiliated by remarks from villagers suggesting he was dependent on his daughter's earnings, which he believed tarnished his dignity. Radhika had started the academy after sustaining a shoulder injury that halted her playing career. Deepak allegedly shot his daughter five times with his licensed.32 bore revolver on the morning of the incident. Radhika was fatally wounded by three bullets. Her uncle and cousin hurried her to Asia Maringo Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Radhika's uncle, who lives on the ground floor of the house, filed the police complaint. In his statement, he said, “Around 10 a.m., I heard a loud sound. When I rushed to the first floor, I found my niece lying in the kitchen and the revolver in the drawing room. My son and I immediately took her to the hospital, where doctors confirmed her death.”
During the preliminary investigation, Deepak Yadav confessed to the crime. He told police that he had repeatedly asked Radhika to shut down the academy, but she had refused. He also admitted that frequent taunts from people in his village in Wazirabad about living off his daughter’s income had deeply affected him. The police received a call from the hospital reporting that a woman with bullet injuries had been brought in dead. Officers discovered that Radhika was operating a tennis academy out of their house and that her father was the one who killed her.
The revolver used in the crime has been seized, and Deepak Yadav has been placed under arrest. According to the reports, a thorough investigation into the case has been started by the police. Radhika Yadav, a talented tennis player, had won numerous tournaments and competed for the nation at the national level. Both the Indian tennis community and the local community are in shock over her untimely and tragic death.
