The court-mandated Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) survey at the Bhojshala/Kamal Maula Mosque complex in Madhya Pradesh's Dhar district is in its sixth day, continuing the examination of this contentious site.

Representatives from both the Hindu and Muslim communities, including Ashish Goyal, Gopal Sharma, and Abdul Samad, are present alongside the ASI team as they delve into the archaeological investigations.

Ashish Goyal, speaking to reporters, noted that the ASI team is actively involved in excavating the site within a 50-meter radius of the complex, conducting thorough research and assessments.

On March 11, the Madhya Pradesh High Court mandated the ASI to conduct a 'scientific survey' of the Bhojshala complex within a six-week timeframe. This complex holds significance for both Hindus, who consider it a temple of Goddess Vagdevi (Saraswati), and Muslims, who refer to it as Kamal Maula Mosque.

Adhering to the court's orders, the ASI commenced its survey on March 22, with the presence of senior police and administrative officials overseeing the proceedings in the tribal-dominated Dhar district.

According to an ASI order issued on April 7, 2003, Hindus have been granted permission to worship inside the Bhojshala complex every Tuesday, while Muslims are permitted to offer namaz at the site on Fridays, maintaining a delicate balance of religious practices.

Legend holds that Raja Bhoj, a Hindu monarch, installed the statue of Vagdevi at Bhojshala in 1034 AD. However, Hindu groups assert that the statue was taken to London by the British in 1875, adding layers to the historical and religious complexities surrounding the site.
