Terrorist threat to India-England Test, FIR lodged in Ranchi

The JSCA stadium in Ranchi will be hosting the 4th Test match between India and England.

US-based terrorist leader Gurpabant Singh Pannu has issued a video urging the banned CPI (Maoist) organisation to disrupt the India-England Test match scheduled to be held in JSCA Stadium Ranchi between February 23 and 27. Pannu issued the threat by releasing a video on YouTube and said that the JSCA stadium in Ranchi where the test match is going to be held has been constructed on tribal land.

"Acquiring tribal land and building a stadium is an injustice to the tribal community. Therefore no match of any kind should be held in this stadium.", said Pannun.

Acting swiftly on the matter Ranchi Police have registered a case against Pannu at Dhurva Police Station in Ranchi on February 19. In the FIR registered by SI MK Mahto, it has been said that Pannu has asked the CPI (Maoist) organisation to disrupt the India-England Match and has also threatened Team India Captain Rahul Sharma and asked England Captain Ben Stokes to return to England, which is a terrorist act.

It is further said in the FIR that Pannu has tried to disturb peace between the two nations and his video has created panic among people, which may result in financial loss to the BCCI and India. Pannu’s act has also tried to undermine the image of the country at the international level and create a feeling of contempt among tribal people for the government. The FIR further seeks to take action against Pannu under section 10/13 of UAP and section 66 of the IT Act.

Gurupabant Singh Pannu is the head of an organization named Sikh for Justice. The organization came into the limelight a few years ago for its separate Khalistani demand. The organization has been carrying out terrorist activities in India from time to time. Pannu currently lives in the United States of America and continues to carry out his activities from there. The Government of India has declared the Sikh for Justice organisation illegal.
