Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi takes the review of the forces’ preparedness of the forward areas along the Line of Control in Kashmir valley, on Thursday. General evaluated the preparedness of forces involved in counter-infiltration and counter-terror operations, officials said.
Following the visit, the Chief of Army Staff proceeded to Kargil to participate in the 25th-anniversary celebrations of Kargil Vijay Diwas.
Upon arrival in Kargil yesterday, General Dwivedi, accompanied by Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, GOC-in-C Northern Command, Chinar Corps Commander, and other dignitaries, paid tribute to Naik Dilawar Khan, who made the ultimate sacrifice during an anti-terror operation in Kupwara.
The Army chief praised all personnel for upholding professionalism and urged them to stay resolute in addressing new security challenges.
