A disturbing incident has sparked fear in Shantipur, Nadia, where a threatening letter was discovered at the residence of a serving Border Security Force (BSF) jawan. The jawan is currently posted in Tripura, while his wife and two young children live alone at their home in Nadia.
According to sources, the incident occurred on Friday morning when the jawan’s wife was cleaning the yard of their house. She stumbled upon a piece of paper bearing a chilling message written in Bengali: “Pakistan’s victory, Bangladesh’s victory. They are in Tripura, Bangladeshis are being caught. Wife is alone at home.”
The message, which references the jawan’s current posting and implies a potential threat to his family, left the woman terrified. The tone and timing of the letter—amid rising cross-border tensions and heightened security activity in Tripura—have intensified concerns.
The jawan’s family is now gripped with anxiety. His wife is reportedly suffering from severe insecurity following the discovery. A formal complaint has been lodged at Shantipur police station, and investigations are currently underway.
Speaking on the issue, the BSF jawan’s grandfather expressed his anguish, saying: “We are deeply worried. Whoever is behind this must be dealt with strictly. These are people who harbour hatred for India—likely supporters of Pakistan or Bangladesh.”
Local BJP leader Somnath Kar has strongly condemned the incident. “This is shameful. The families of those who protect our borders should feel the safest in the country, not live in fear. These pro-Pakistan and pro-Bangladesh elements must be weeded out. We demand immediate, strict action,” he stated.
The Shantipur police have begun investigating the origin of the letter and are exploring all angles, including potential local links to anti-national networks. “Additional security may be provided to the jawan’s family if required,” said a police officer.
