Police have arrested all three alleged shooters involved in the firing at Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai. The suspects were traced and apprehended in Kota, Rajasthan, and are currently being questioned.
The identities of the arrested men have not yet been established. Investigators are expected to examine their role in the attack and determine whether they were acting on the instructions of others.
The incident took place on Sunday evening in Mumbai’s Juhu area, where unidentified assailants opened fire at Shroff’s vehicle. The actor was not hurt, while his driver and another person sustained injuries.
A viral social media post has claimed responsibility for the attack on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The claim is being examined as part of the wider investigation.
Mumbai Police had registered an attempt-to-murder case against three unidentified persons in connection with the firing. The investigation was subsequently handed over to the Crime Branch, which is looking into all possible angles, including suspected links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis condemned the attack and described those involved as cowards who attempted to strike while remaining in hiding. He said the police treated every threat seriously and would ensure that the perpetrators were brought to justice.
“These are cowards who attempt to strike from hiding. Their attempts will be foiled,” Fadnavis said.
Fadnavis also warned that no gang or individual involved in threatening people would be allowed to operate without consequences. He said Mumbai Police knew how to deal with those who issued threats and that action would be taken even if the handlers were hiding elsewhere.
“Be it any gang or individual, no one will be spared. Mumbai Police knows how to deal with those who try to operate by issuing threats. As I said, their handlers may be hiding anywhere; the process will have to be completed, but we will certainly ensure action,” the Chief Minister said.
He added that Mumbai Police had previously demonstrated its ability to track down perpetrators operating from anywhere in the world. Fadnavis said every aspect of the incident would be analysed and all necessary steps would be taken.
Calling Mumbai Police a professional force, the Chief Minister said it would take all measures required following the firing incident.
