The Tripartite agreement signed to address the longstanding issues of Tripura's indigenous people represents a significant milestone towards achieving peace and prosperity, stated Chief Minister Manik Saha.
The historic pact was signed among the Tipra Motha, the Tripura government, and the Centre in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday.
"It is a momentous day for the state of Tripura, as a crucial agreement aimed at ensuring peace and prosperity has been sealed," remarked Saha.
According to an official statement, the agreement commits to amicably resolving all issues concerning the indigenous people of Tripura, including those related to history, land, political rights, economic development, identity, culture, and language.
Shah asserted that with the signing of the agreement, the government has shown respect for history, rectified past wrongs, and embraced the current reality to move towards a brighter future.
Saha, addressing a press conference on Saturday, stated, "For the past few months, Tipra Motha has been raising certain issues. Today's development will address the concerns of the opposition party."
Commending the Prime Minister's emphasis on peace in the northeast, Saha highlighted that a total of 11 accords have been signed by the Centre with various organisations in the region over the past few years.
The tripartite agreement, involving the Tripura Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance, commonly known as Tipra Motha, and the state and central governments, was signed at North Block in New Delhi.
Taking to social media, Tipra Motha supremo Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debarma expressed that the party has signed a historic accord.
"We must now focus on implementing our land rights, funding pattern, language (script) issue, political representation, and also rectify our historical and cultural pride," he mentioned in a Facebook post.
